After the huge success of Deadpool earlier this year, fans are clamoring for a sequel. After seeing this awesome fanmade poster, we’re hoping it’s actually called Deadpool: Number Two.
Ryan Reynolds shared the poster earlier today on his Instagram account, and it’s as wonderful and irreverent as we expect the real marketing campaign to be. It also has a tongue-in-cheek release date on the bottom (“Coming Soon: ‘Soon’ as in 2018”), but that’s likely just a guess at this point, even with Reynolds’ sanctioning of the poster. As far as we know, Deadpool 2 doesn’t even have an official production start date, let alone a release date; Simon Kinberg recently said that Fox is hoping to film early next year, and if that does happen, sometime in 2018 is a good guess, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
However, there are a couple of things we do know. Most notably, we know that Cable is going to be the new villain/ally, judging from that Ferris Bueller-style end credits scene. Tim Miller is confirmed to direct, while Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also set to return. Reynolds is obviously attached, and we would expect Morena Baccarin and TJ Miller, at the very least, to come back as well. We don’t know who will play Cable yet, although we’d support Deadpool’s suggestion of Keira Knightley.
