Dwayne Johnson has a massively insane shooting schedule lined up for 2016. He’s filming season 2 of HBO’s Ballers, then moves straight into Baywatch, Fast & Furious 8, and his live-action adaptation of the video game Rampage and because he’s a workaholic, THR reports that he’s going to face off against more earthquakes in a sequel to San Andreas.
Johnson will reunite with director Brad Peyton and stars Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, and Paul Giamatti. Plot details for the new installment are being kept under wraps, but the sequel is expanding the disaster locales by going global, focusing on the infamous Ring of Fire. The ring circles the Pacific Ocean with fault lines and volcanoes and, according to scientists, is home to about 90 percent of the worlds’ earthquakes.
If they’re going global, that will take them away from the San Andreas fault, meaning that calling it San Andreas 2 seems unfitting so it’ll be interesting to see how the studio will name the movie to keep it feeling like a continuation of their already established property.
