Zack Snyder Says You’d Know He Didn’t Change Superman If You Read The Comics

The director of Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie is on the offensive after years of criticism from fans. Comicbook is reporting that Zack Snyder shot back in the Hall of Justice podcast saying that fans who read comics know that Superman hasn’t changed…

“People are always like, ‘You changed Superman’…If you’re a comic book fan, you know that I didn’t change Superman. If you know the true canon, you know that I didn’t change Superman. If you’re a fan of the old movies, yeah I changed him a bit. That’s the difference. I’m a bit of a comic book fan and I always default to the true canon. Not the cinematic canon that sort of, that in my opinion, plays fast and loose with the rules. And so, I feel like I tried to create a Superman that would set a tone for the world.”

He must have a brass set on him to make in that statenebt. Snyder did more than get rid of the red underwear. He made The Man of Steel an Alaskan Crab Fisherman who shaves, had him destroy tens of millions of dollars in property, and did the exact opposite of “kneeling before Zod.”

Snyder has definitely made a few changes to supes. That being said, Not saying I disagree with it! I’m a Snyder fan and I liked the movie. Im a huge fan but won’t pretend to be a purist. Im open to a modern representation and his interpretation of such an iconic role that means so much to so many. What do you think?

Founder / Editor In Chief - Movies are my passion. At any time in my life I can throw on a movie and be motivated, comforted, excited, or moved to tears. For me cinema is a universal language that guides me. I love action and natural disaster flicks, the bigger the better. I'm what you'd call an athletic geek. I love covering Con’s, Red Carpets, and Hollywood events. In my spare time I snowboard, DJ, travel, and search out good eateries.
